Then, for her ‘FCW TV debut as a member of a tag team with Sofia Cortez, she adopted the moniker “Paige.” Only Paige has ever held both the NXT Women’s Champion and the WWE Divas Championship titles simultaneously.

The “German Stampede Wrestling (GSW) Ladies Championship,” the “Premier Wrestling Federation (PWF) Ladies Tag Team Championship,” the “Pro-Wrestling: EVE Championship,” and the “Real Quality Wrestling (RQW) Women’s Championship” are just a few of the other championships she has held.

Additionally, she has had appearances on the television shows “The Wrestlers: Fighting with My Family,” “WWE Tough Enough,” and “Total Divas.” In movies like “Scooby-Doo!” and “WWE: Curse of the Speed Demon,” she has appeared.

Early Life

Ricky Knight and Sweet Saraya welcomed Saraya-Jade Bevis into the world on August 17, 1992, in Norwich, Norfolk, England.

Her parents, who both worked as professional wrestlers, own a tavern. She has a professional wrestler brother named Zak Zodiac and a half-brother named Roy Bevis.

She graduated in 2008 from Norwich’s “The Hewett School,” where she had studied. She initially preferred to become a zoologist rather than pursue a career in wrestling.

But because wrestling was a big deal in her family, she didn’t compete until she was 13, when her father forced her to step in for a wrestler who hadn’t shown up.

She took part in a number of wrestling promotion events in the US and Europe by the age of 14.

She competed in singles championships unsuccessfully as well as the women’s championship of the “World Wide Wrestling League” (W3L), where she was defeated by Sara in the finals. At age 15, she also worked as a bartender and a bouncer at her parents’ pub.

Career

In April 2006, she took up the ring moniker “Britani Knight” and partnered with her mother in a triple-threat tag-team bout for “WAW.”

Later, in June 2007, she became a member of the tag team “Norfolk Dolls,” which went on to win the new “World Association of Women’s Wrestling (WAWW) Tag Team Championship.”

She also competed in the “WAWW British Championship,” where Jetta defeated her in the title match.

She won the Herts and Essex (HEW) Women’s Championship, the WAWW British Championship, and the Real Deal Wrestling (RDW) Women’s Championship in 2009 by defeating her mother, Sweet Saraya.

That year, she also triumphed over Jetta in a “Champion vs. Champion” battle.

In the 2010 PWF Ladies Tag Team Championship, she and her mother collaborated to defeat Amazon and Ananya.

She lost the ‘HEW’ women’s championship to her mother later in the year, only to reclaim it in 2011.

In that same year, she also captured the “Pro-Wrestling: EVE Championship,” the “GSW Ladies Championship,” and the “WAWW Hardcore Championship.”

In the latter half of 2011, she and her mother competed in a number of tag-team competitions, but they consistently lost.

Her relationship with her mother became rather tense as a result of this. She beat her mother in a match where there were no rules that could get either of them kicked out.

She signed a contract with “WWE” under the ring name “Saraya” and made her professional debut in January 2012 at the “Florida Championship Wrestling” (FCW) home event.

In February 2012, she made her “FCW TV” debut under the name “Paige,” and she also made her professional wrestling debut alongside Sofia Cortez as a tag team.

By the end of the year, the pair had broken up after a brief association with Rick Victor in a few mixed tag-team matches.

Paige made her debut in the third episode of “NXT,” the renamed version of “FCW,” where she was defeated by Cortez.

By September 2012, she had returned and had defeated Sasha Banks, Audrey Marie, and Alicia Fox.

In spite of a shoulder ailment, she defeated Summer Rae in a singles match in 2013 after a protracted feud with the latter.

The following year, she has crowned the “NXT Women’s Champion.” She eventually gave up her championship after being moved to the main roster and winning the “Divas Championship” in 2014.

She was the only woman to simultaneously hold the “NXT Woman’s Champion” title and the youngest wrestler to win the “Divas Championship” at age 21.

In January 2015, she won a lot of matches to keep her title and quickly became well-known.
She competed against wrestlers including Alicia Fox, Charlotte, and Becky Lynch between 2015 and 2016.

She experienced a lot of victories and losses, as well as some injuries. In 2016, she received a 30-day suspension for disregarding wellness regulations. She was also accused of using illicit drugs.

After having neck surgery, she eventually made a comeback in 2017. She had yet another serious neck injury in a six-woman tag-team bout in December of that same year, forcing the referee to call time on the match. She then formally ended her career in wrestling.

Personal life

Los Angeles is home to Bevis. She names some of her favorite wrestlers, including Bull Nakano, Alundra Blayze, Edge, Lita, Rikishi, Bret Hart, and Stone Cold Steve Austin.

She has scoliosis, but she wasn’t aware of it until after joining WWE when a trainer saw that her back appeared “weird.” Bevis experienced a car accident while she was a member of NXT, which required surgery.

Bevis has a number of tattoos, one of which honors her younger brother, who passed away when she was 13 years old.

Bevis admitted to having previously “been with another woman” during an episode of the WWE reality television series Total Divas. Before their breakup in early 2016, she was engaged to A Day to Remember guitarist Kevin Skaff.

Bevis proposed to fellow wrestler Alberto Del Rio in October 2016. They broke up in the latter part of 2017. She has been dating Falling in Reverse’s lead singer, Ronnie Radke, since late 2018.

Private nude images as well as a sex tape with Bevis were released online in March 2017. She replied that she was “going forward and joyful” and that she hoped her “error could assist people’s future[s]”.

She later admitted that she had “stress-induced anorexia” and had considered committing suicide as a result of the experience.

Professional wrestling career

European independent circuit (2005–2011)

Bevis made her professional wrestling debut in 2005 when she was just 13 years old and was requested by her father, who ran a wrestling show, to take the place of a wrestler who was absent.

Her first-ever match came in April 2006, when she and her mother competed in a triple threat tag team match for a loss in the World Association of Wrestling under the ring name Britani Knight (WAW).

Following their alliance, Knight and Melodi competed in several English promotions as the Norfolk Dolls, a tag team named after the California Dolls film.

The Norfolk Dolls defeated the Legion of Womb to win the new World Association of Women’s Wrestling (WAWW) Tag Team Championship in June 2007. However, the Norfolk Dolls failed to defend the title, so it remained dormant.

The opportunity to compete in Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Belgium, France, Turkey, Denmark, Norway, and Germany, as well as the United States, came about after Knight, then 14 years old, sent resumes to several wrestling promoters throughout Europe.

She was able to travel on her own at that age. She started playing in singles tournaments, although she didn’t have much luck at first. Sara Knight contested for the World Wide Wrestling League (W3L) Women’s Title in Scotland in September 2007, but Sara defeated her in the championship match.

Knight competed in a contest in December 2007 where the victor would be crowned the first WAWW British Champion, but she was defeated by Jetta in the championship match.

Sara Knight attempted to challenge Sara and Jetta for their respective crowns in 2008, but she was unsuccessful.

Knight continued to have success with singles after 2009. In a two-out-of-three falls bout in August 2009, Knight overcame her mother, Sweet Saraya, to win the vacant Herts and Essex (HEW) Women’s Championship.

Later on, in the same month, Knight defeated Saraya once more to win the WAWW British Championship.

In an elimination match that also included Chelsey Love and Stacey Barbie in November 2009, Knight defeated her mother to win the Real Deal Wrestling (RDW) Women’s Championship.

Knight won the RQW Women’s Championship in December 2009 while still competing in HEW by defeating Jetta in a champion versus champion bout with her HEW Women’s Championship on the line.

In May 2010, Knight and her mother competed against Amazon and Ananya for the PWF Ladies Tag Team Championship, which they ultimately won. On July 17, 2010, Knight was defeated by her mother for the HEW Women’s Championship.

On January 22, 2011, Knight defeated Blue Nikita to win the German Stampede Wrestling Ladies’ Championship.

In addition, Knight also participated in Turkish Power Wrestling’s inaugural show in Ankara in January 2011, competing against Shanna for the first-ever TPW Ladies Crown in a losing effort.

She reclaimed the HEW Women’s Championship from her mother on March 11. On April 8, Knight made a comeback to Pro-Wrestling: EVE to take part in a two-night competition to select the inaugural Pro-Wrestling: EVE Champion.

Knight competed on the first night, falling to Jenny Sjödin in a four-way match, winning the Last Chance battle royal, and then defeating Sjödin in the quarterfinal match.

The Pro Wrestling: EVE Championship was hers after she defeated Nikki Storm in the finals and Jetta the following day.

Knight defeated SCW Ladies Champion Amy Cooper on April 30 to claim the title. [34] In 2011, Knight won an elimination contest to become the WAWW Hardcore Champion.

In a four-way fight that also featured Amy Cooper and Laura Wellings, Knight lost her Pro-Wrestling: EVE Championship to Jenny Sjödin on June 4 and her SCW Ladies Championship to her mother on June 26.

In addition, Knight and her mother were defeated by Amazon and Destiny on August 2 in a two-out-of-three falls match, forfeiting their PWF Ladies Tag Team Championship. Knight gave up the HEW Women’s Championship on November 12.

On November 19, 2011, Knight forfeited both the RQW Women’s Championship and the WAWW British Championship to Liberty.

Shimmer Women Athletes (2011)

On March 26, 2011, at the Volume 37 tapings in Berwyn, Illinois, Bevis made her debut for the American all-female promotion Shimmer Women Athletes under the name Britani Knight once more.

Together with her mother, Saraya Knight, they competed in the Knight Dynasty under the direction of Rebecca Knox. After the opposing team utilized the Dynasty’s brass knuckles, they were disqualified and went on to defeat Nikki Roxx and Ariel.

So, Hiroyo Matsumoto and Misaki Ohata of the Seven Star Sisters challenged the Knight Dynasty to a Shimmer Tag Team Championship match at Volume 38, which the Knight Dynasty lost.

When Saraya declined to assist Britani in the Shimmer Tag Team Championship match against champions Ayako Hamada and Ayumi Kurihara in October 2011 at Volume 42, the Knight Dynasty lost. After the game, Saraya chastised Britani.

It was Britani’s third straight loss as she was defeated by Jessie McKay at Volume 43. Due to this, Saraya disowned Britani (in the plot) and spanked her before a fight broke out between the two of them that had to be broken up.

Later, Britani challenged Saraya to a bout at Volume 44, which Britani won by a no-disqualification rule in what turned out to be her last Shimmer encounter.

WWE (2011-2022)

Florida Championship Wrestling (2011–2012)

When a talent scout attended a show in England, Bevis learned for the first time that there would be tryouts for WWE. In November 2010, she tried for the first time but was unsuccessful. In April 2011, she was successful.

Bevis signed a contract with WWE in September 2011 and was given a job with Florida Championship Wrestling, which was then the company’s development zone (FCW).

On January 5, 2012, at a home event, she made her FCW debut under the ring name Saraya. Paige became her new stage name once she made her television debut on the FCW TV show on February 26. Bevis named the character after Charmed’s Paige Matthews, who has “a butt chin like mine.”

Paige and Sofia Cortez joined forces in March 2012 under the name “Anti-Diva Army.” On March 19, Paige and Cortez competed in their first-ever televised bout in the ring, losing to Audrey Marie and Kaitlyn.

After defeating Audrey Marie and Aiden English in a mixed tag team bout, Paige and Cortez briefly teamed up with Rick Victor.

Raquel Diaz, the FCW Divas Champion, was defeated by Paige on May 6 in a non-title triple threat match that also featured Audrey Marie.

Due to Diaz’s deception, Paige was disqualified from their championship match, which took place on the May 27 broadcast of FCW TV, and Diaz went on to win the show.

As Paige moved on to a dispute with Audrey Marie, discord was hinted at within the Anti-Diva Army.

On June 11 on FCW TV, Paige lost to Marie as a result of Cortez’s interference, which marked the end of the partnership. Paige and Cortez put an end to their feud on the 15th of July’s FCW TV finale, with Marie winning a no-disqualification match.

NXT Women’s Champion (2012–2014)

Later, WWE changed the name of its development division, FCW, to NXT. On the third episode of the newly revived NXT, which was filmed at Full Sail University, Paige made her NXT television debut and fell to Sofia Cortez.

From September 2012 onward, Paige went on a winning run after experiencing a significant increase in crowd support. Audrey Marie, Sasha Banks, [61] Emma, Aksana, and Alicia Fox were among her many opponents.

Summer Rae, the ring announcer, attacked Paige on January 30, 2013, because she was envious of Paige’s fame and success.

Paige and Rae got into a fight during the NXT taping on February 13; as a result, Paige sustained a shoulder injury, which Rae later used to break Paige’s winning streak.

In spite of Rae attacking Paige before the match, Paige prevailed over Rae in a singles bout on the NXT program airing on May 1. Paige participated in a competition in June to crown the inaugural NXT Women’s Champion.

On her way to the final, when she defeated Emma to become the first champion, she overcame Alicia Fox and Tamina Snuka (the episode aired on tape delay on July 24, 2013, the day WWE officially began her reign).

The NXT episode airing on August 14 saw Paige make her maiden successful championship defense by defeating Summer Rae.

In the months that followed, Paige and Emma joined forces to fight Summer Rae and Sasha Banks. Paige successfully defended her championship against Natalya on the December 4 NXT broadcast and Emma on February 27, 2014, NXT Arrival.

Paige had to give up the NXT Women’s Championship because she won the Divas Championship on April 24. She couldn’t even defend it once, so her 301-day reign was over.

Divas Champion (2014–2015)

On April 7, 2014, episode of Raw, the night following WrestleMania XXX, Paige unexpectedly made her main roster debut. She did so by congratulating Divas Champion AJ Lee on her successful title defense at the pay-per-view event.

After that, AJ slapped Paige and challenged her to an impromptu match for the championship, which Paige quickly won, becoming the youngest Divas Champion in history at age 21, the first Diva to win the title in her On the April 28th episode of Raw, Paige made her first successful championship defense against Brie Bella in a no-holds-barred bout when Kane attacked Brie as Paige escaped.

On May 4, at Extreme Rules, Paige won her first pay-per-view title defense by beating Tamina Snuka.

Paige lost to Alicia Fox in a non-title match on the May 19th episode of Raw, which prompted a title match between the two at Payback, which Paige won.

This was Paige’s first loss on the main roster. Paige and Cameron began a feud in June, during which Paige won both of their non-title contests.

But Naomi, one half of Cameron’s tag team, later defeated Paige in a non-title match, earning her a shot at the title at Money in the Bank, which Paige won.

During this period, WWE came under fire for portraying Paige as a helpless champion when she was proving her mettle in the plot and for failing to develop Paige’s character while doing so for Paige’s opponents.

A role reversal occurred when AJ Lee, who had returned, quickly defeated Paige in a title match to reclaim the Divas Championship on the post-Money in the Bank episode of Raw on June 30.

Paige had initially been hesitant to face Lee, but she eventually agreed to the match after the live audience requested it.

Paige acted as if she was best friends with Lee during tag matches when they joined up, despite losing the championship.

Paige fell to Lee in a rematch for the Divas Championship at Battleground. After Paige and Lee defeated Emma and Natalya in a tag match on the post-Battleground episode of Raw on July 21, Paige turned evil by brutally attacking Lee.

Ultimately, this led to another title fight between the two on August 17 at SummerSlam, which Paige won to win her second Divas Championship on her 22nd birthday.

In a triple-threat match at Night of Champions a month later that also featured Nikki Bella, Paige lost the title back to Lee.

Then, while still embroiled in her battle with Lee, Paige forged an alliance with Alicia Fox[104]. However, after Fox failed to help Paige win a second title match against Lee at Hell in a Cell, Paige broke up the alliance by attacking Fox the following night on Raw.

Paige competed in a 4-on-4 elimination tag team match at the Survivor Series, where she was the final member of her team to be eliminated thanks to Naomi.

Paige reclaimed her place as a fan favorite on the Raw broadcast of January 5 when she saved Natalya from a post-fight attack by Divas Champion Nikki Bella.

As a result, the two competed in a non-title bout the following night in the main event, which Paige won. The Bella Twins defeated Paige and Natalya in a tag team match at the Royal Rumble as a result of this.

After being bullied by The Bella Twins for weeks, Paige challenged Nikki for the Divas Championship at Fastlane and on the March 2nd episode of Raw, where she was unsuccessful.

AJ Lee, who had returned, then protected Paige from The Bellas’ post-match attack. This resulted in Paige and Lee facing off in a tag team match at WrestleMania 31 against The Bella Twins, which Paige and Lee won in Paige’s WrestleMania debut.

In the April 13th episode of Raw, Naomi assaulted Paige after the match, injuring her in the storyline and preventing her from competing.

Paige had just won a battle royal to become the top challenger to Nikki Bella’s Divas Championship. On the May 18th edition of Raw, Paige made her return after missing one month.

She first attacked Bella before defending Nikki Bella from an attack by Naomi and Tamina Snuka. This led to a triple threat match at Elimination Chamber between Paige, Naomi, and Nikki, which Paige lost.

After Brie and Nikki traded places in a bout in June, Paige went on to challenge Nikki for the championship in two singles fights on Raw and Money in the Bank, as well as in a triple threat match on July 4 at The Beast in the East that also featured Tamina.

Women’s Revolution (2015–2016)

On the July 13 episode of Raw, Stephanie McMahon called for a “revolution” in the Divas division after weeks of being outnumbered by The Bella Twins and their ally Alicia Fox.

She introduced debutantes Charlotte and Becky Lynch as Paige’s allies and NXT Women’s Champion Sasha Banks as an ally of Naomi and Tamina, which sparked a brawl between the three teams.

Following the initials of each wrestler’s first name, the trio of Paige, Charlotte, and Becky, formerly known as “Submission Sorority,” adopted the moniker “Team PCB.” At SummerSlam, a three-team elimination match between the three teams would eventually take place, and PCB would win after Becky Lynch pinned Brie Bella.

All PCB members participated in the first-ever “Divas beat the clock challenge” on the August 31 episode of Raw, but Charlotte was named the top challenger for the title as Paige and Sasha Banks fought to a time limit stalemate.

This resulted in two matches between Paige and Banks on the Raw programs of September 7 and 14, which Banks won, and a no-contest match between the two on the SmackDown edition of September 10.

In April 2016, Paige (in the middle) celebrated with the other Total Divas stars after their win at WrestleMania 32.

On September 20, at Night of Champions, Charlotte defeated Nikki Bella to win the Divas Championship. However, Paige turned on her teammates and cut a working promo during Charlotte’s celebration the following night on Raw.

In it, she attacked Becky and Natalya, as well as other women in the Divas division.
This also caused Paige and Natalya to argue repeatedly. Paige pretended to want to make amends with Becky and Charlotte over the entire month of October, only to assault them.

Paige became the top contender for Charlotte’s Divas Championship after winning a key four-way match in November. However, she was unable to win it back three times: at TLC, Survivor Series, and the next night on Raw in a rematch that ended in a double countout.

After her feud with Charlotte, Paige had to take a break from the screen due to an injury. She made a comeback on the Raw broadcast on January 18, 2016, when she accompanied Natalya to her bout against Brie Bella. Paige began competing in numerous singles and tag team battles after her return, finishing on both the winning and losing side of the outcome.

Paige later joined forces with fellow Total Divas Brie Bella, Natalya, Alicia Fox, and Eva Marie to compete in a 10-Diva tag team battle against Lana, Naomi, Tamina, Summer Rae, and Emma. Paige’s side won the match.

After twice defeating WWE Women’s Champion Charlotte, Paige was given a title opportunity on the 20 June episode of Raw. She lost the match, but Charlotte and Dana Brooke attacked her afterward. Sasha Banks intervened to save Paige.

As a result, Paige and Banks competed in a tag team match the following week on the Raw program on June 27 and won.

Neck injuries and retirement (2016–2018)

Paige was selected for Raw in the 2016 WWE draught, which was held on July 19. Her mother said on Twitter on August 3 that she was taking a break due to an injury.

Paige was punished for violating the company’s wellness policy on August 17 by receiving a 30-day suspension. Later, she clarified that the suspension was the result of a procedural error rather than a drug test failure.

Paige announced in September 2016 that she would be having neck surgery and would be out of the ring for an unspecified period of time.

For her second infraction of the wellness rules, Paige was once more suspended on October 10, this time for 60 days. Bevis tweeted after that, “A different day, same garbage. Kids.. Do not obtain prescriptions or doctor’s notes, please.

It’s not right. ” In a statement, her father stated that she had been given treatment for her neck injury. She had “tested positive for an unlawful substance, not a prescription medicine,” according to a statement from WWE.

She underwent successful neck surgery on October 19 and was given the all-clear to return to ring competition in September 2017.

On November 20, 2017, Paige made a comeback on Monday Night Raw as a heel to attack Alexa Bliss, Sasha Banks, Bayley, Mickie James, and Bayley.

Paige’s teammates, Mandy Rose, who was making her debut, and Sonya Deville, with whom she established the stable Absolution, joined Paige in her attack. In her first match since June 2016, Paige defeated Sasha Banks on the Raw program on December 4th.

The group attacked Alicia Fox later that night. In a six-woman tag team bout at a house show on December 27, Paige received another injury after being kicked by Sasha Banks, which prompted the referee to call time on the contest.

She was unable to participate in the Royal Rumble due to a neck injury she sustained during an impact. Paige continued to watch the matches of the other members of the Absolution, but she stopped competing in the ring.

Paige appeared in a brief cameo as a member of the commentary team for the first-ever WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal at the WrestleMania 34 kick-off program. Due to an injury, Paige said on April 9’s Raw after WrestleMania that she would no longer be fighting in the ring.

Non-wrestling roles (2018–2022)

Paige was introduced as the new general manager of SmackDown by Shane McMahon, who was serving as the show’s commissioner, on the 10 April 2018 episode of SmackDown Live.

Paige then turned her face once more and disbanded Absolution. In order to keep Paige on television and promote the movie Fighting with My Family, which is based on her life, WWE Chairman Vince McMahon reportedly granted her this job.

Paige held the post for the remainder of the year until the McMahon family made the announcement that they would be taking over that evening, at which point the general manager position was covertly eliminated on the Raw edition of December 17.

Shane McMahon announced the following night on SmackDown that Paige would continue to be involved with the show but not in the same capacity.

Paige returned to SmackDown on April 10, 2019, after taking a few weeks off to promote the movie Fighting with My Family.

There, she made the announcement that she would be bringing a new tag team into the division to compete with The IIconics (Billie Kay and Peyton Royce) for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship.

A week later, Paige took over as team manager of the Kabuki Warriors, a brand-new SmackDown roster that included Asuka and Kairi Sane. The team would struggle at first, but on October 6, at Hell in a Cell, they would win the belts, turning heel in the process, while Paige was out of the picture recovering from neck surgery.

The two turned on Paige when she returned to congratulate them on the Raw broadcast from October 28. Asuka doused Paige in green mist, thus cutting off any communication with her. She later started contributing to WWE Backstage, a studio program that debuted on November 5th on

The SmackDown Women’s Champions Bayley and Sasha Banks were confronted by Paige on March 20, 2020, via Skype.

Paige then revealed that Bayley would defend her championship in a six-way elimination contest at WrestleMania 36 (though changed to a five-way after Dana Brooke was removed from the match).

Paige was ranked 17th on WWE’s list of the 50 Greatest Women Superstars of All Time in 2021.

Paige confirmed on Twitter on June 10, 2022, that she was leaving the WWE as of July 7.

Although she began wrestling when she was 10 years old, she has accomplished incredible feats.

She started working as a bouncer and bartender in her parents’ bar at the age of 15, so she hasn’t finished her studies.
